Ekstein’s initial building permits denied for 25-19 43rd Avenue

Ekstein Development, which filed building permits for a 68,145 square foot residential build (5.00 FAR), has hit a road bump. The permits were initially submitted to the Department of Buildings on May 20,1 but were denied on Aug. 6. The permit says the building’s “Development Challenge Process is pending Zoning Approval.” Demolition of the building started in March,2 and as you can see from the aerial photo below, it is mostly complete.

When all is said and done, the project will turn into a 86-unit condominium with “a fitness center, roof deck, parking, bike storage and other amenities.”3 Douglas Elliman will be handling the project, and we’re being told that the building will have studios, 1BR and 2BRs.
