QWFF nominee ‘The Abominable Crime’ to show at Montclair Film Festival

Back in March, ‘The Abominable Crime’ played at the Queens World Film Festival to rave reviews, as the film was nominated for best LGBT feature.1 Director and friend of The Court Square Blog Micah Fink emailed us recently to let us know that the film has made its way back to the tri-state area, and will be screened again at the Montclair Film Festival on Saturday, May 3, at 4 p.m. at Clairidge Cinema 1, 486 Bloomfield Ave Montclair, NJ 07042.2

The film has won the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Roze Film Festival in Amsterdam (Holland), Best Documentary at the Belize International Film Festival and also had three screenings at the British Film Institute earlier in the year. For those of you who missed this amazing documentary, here is the description:

Exposing the roots of homophobia in Jamaican society, The Abominable Crime tells the story of a mother’s love for her child and an activist’s love for his country. Directed by Glen Ridge resident Micah Fink, the film spans four years and takes the audience on an emotional journey.
