Strike involving doormen, handymen and porters averted

The Realty Advisory Board has tentatively reached an agreement with SEIU Local 32BJ, averting a strike that would’ve affected residents of Linc LIC.

The contract was set to expire on April 20 at midnight, and included doormen, handymen and porters in multi-family residential buildings throughout New York City, including Linc LIC.1 But in a letter dated April 15, Rockrose told residents that services would continue past Sunday.

“The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the Board of Directors of the Realty Advisory Board and the membership of the Union, a process that will occur over the next few weeks,” the letter said.

Had the strike occurred, it would’ve affected areas such as security, delivery, elevator service, garbage collection, repairs, amenity spaces, and cleaning of halls and public areas, among other items.
