Construction crews erected a plywood sidewalk fence, at 42-51 27th Street last month. As you can see from the photo below, the fence is 12′-6″ high, at three feet from the property line at 42-51 27th Street in accordance with a permit issued on March 14, 2014.1 The former site of the Queens Dance Center has received permits to erect a fence, install an HVAC system and also install plumbing fixtures. 2
In late May, WeHeartLIC reported that the location will turn into The Beast Next Door Cafe:3
They plan to offer coffee (they have not yet settled on the beans they’ll use) starting in the late morning, and will prepare all sorts of espresso drinks, as well as sandwiches and salads for lunch. It will transform into a bar at night, and they will offer a well-curated selection of draft beer, including local brews (think Transmitter, Rockaway, and Singlecut, all made in Western Queens) and some wine.
Construction is slated to finish some time in August.
