Demolition permit approved earlier in the year at 44-46 Purves Street

We’re a little (OK, a lot) late to the game, but we were taking a walk down Purves Street earlier this week when we noticed that the the building was peppered with warning signs that “this area has been treated for rodents.” As you can see below, the sign was dated September of last year. So far, that’s the only activity we’ve seen on the building since it was purchased for $4,137,500 mid last year.1 Still, activity may pick up soon, because a check of the building of the Department of Buildings website shows that a permit was approved on January 10, 2014 for a “mechanical demolition of [the] two-story building.”2

We’ve heard from multiple sources that the building will eventually turn into a hotel, but the sources cautioned that nothing has been finalized yet. We’ll check back in with the building later when we start to see more activity.
