Creative Mobile Technologies appears headed for a building nearby Silvercup Studios later in the year. We were walking by 42-14 21st Street earlier in the week when we saw that construction was well under way on the building and the CMT logo appears on the rendering, as you can see below. Construction is set to finish in winter of this year.
CMT lists two Long Island City addresses on their contact information on their website: 42-50 24th Street and 11-51 47th Avenue.1 Here is the description of the company from their website:
CMT was founded in 2005 when a group of industry leaders (including lease managers, brokers, owner/drivers, lenders and fleet owners – large and small) began evaluating what was needed to comply with evolving taxi service enhancement programs, and make taxi service in general more efficient, modern and profitable. What developed was our unique “by the industry, for the industry” FREEdom taxi solution, designed to not only save taxi owners thousands in up-front equipment costs, but also provide the opportunity to drive new revenues into taxi businesses. CMT’s solutions integrate all of the technology, banking and media components needed to realize this vision, and ensure that the taxi industry can meet these technology challenges.
I’m pretty sure this is actually a relocation for them. That secondary location of theirs at 11-51 47th Avenue is being demolished for Sam Charney’s new condo project. So, if I had to bet, it’d be that they’re moving their 47th Ave. location to 21st St., to make way for the condominium. Check out the story below.
