Demolition begins at 24-12 42nd Road

Earlier in the month, construction crews erected a construction fence at a lot at 24-12 42nd Road. The lot comprises three former buildings at 24-12 42nd Road, 42-34 Crescent Street and 42-38 Crescent Street. All three of those buildings have been approved for demolition, including 42-12 42nd Road, which used to be a junk yard. As you can see from the photos, demolition is underway.

According to New York YIMBY (who also obtained renderings of the project), the building is being developed by the Ampiera Group, and the architect of record is My-Architecture.1 The developers filed an application for an eight story build that contains 29,403 of residential space and 4,328 of commercial space.2 The building is zoned for a FAR of 5.0. The plan was disapproved by the Department of Buildings on July 22 on what appears to be a pending zoning issue, but that won’t stop demolition.
