As many of you know, there will be no G train service at the Court Square, 21st St and Greenpoint Avenue for the rest of the summer. The shutdown began Friday and will continue through September 2 as the line is being repaired for damages from Hurricane Sandy.
But straphangers who are now left without a direct subway from Long Island City to Williamsburg will have a few options. One of them is Court Square based Uber, who will be offering a “free transfer” between Nassau Av and Court Sq along the G train.1 Users will be able to use the promo code FREETRANSFER for one free ride (up to $30) between Greenpoint and LIC through August 31st.
The MTA is also offering shuttle buses and subway transfers on top of the B62 and B32 buses as an alternative. The East River Ferry has also reopened its stop in Greenpoint.2
The other bit of good news for LIC residents is that there will be no 7 train closures again until the weekend of September 20.
