Ekstein Development only recently started full demolition on its 25-19 43rd Avenue site,1 but that came to a partial halt last week because of a partial work stop order issued by the Department of Buildings. According to the complaint, the main issue was the lack of fire extinguishers.2 “NO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS ON DEMO SITE WHILE USING DEMO SAW STOP ALL USE OF CUTTING EQUIPMENT PROVIDE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS,” reads the comments section on the order.
Eventually, the project will turn into a 86-unit condominium with “a fitness center, roof deck, parking, bike storage and other amenities.”3 Douglas Elliman will be handling the project, and we’re being told that the building will have studios, 1BR and 2BRs.
