Two nonprofit organizations, Project Renewal and Barbells for Boobs, will host a free breast cancer screening event on October 5 at the CrossFit Bell gym in Long Island City, Queens. Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event is part of Barbells for Boobs’ annual national “Pink Bra Tour,” and will feature free mammograms inside Project Renewal’s ScanVan.

The Pink Bra Tour, a cross-country fundraising event, stops at 10 CrossFit gyms across the country chosen based on their outstanding fundraising efforts last year. The events feature Barbells for Boobs’ “Pro Advocates,” elite CrossFit athletes and coaches.
This year Barbells for Boobs awarded a grant to Project Renewal to help fund the ScanVan, the nation’s first mobile mammography clinic. The ScanVan provides mammograms each year to 5,000 New York City women who are homeless, low-income, uninsured or face other healthcare barriers.
BTTF is also supported by a grant from Barbells for Boobs, which provides funding to programs across the country.
