The first mural was painted in December 2009 during artist MCity’s first visit to NYC. After planning and incubating over winter, the 1st Annual Welling Court Mural Project blossomed with over 44 murals in May 2010. Each year since, spectacular crews of legendary and groundbreaking artists have come together to transform this neighborhood into a robust creative celebration and stimulating public art experience. This year’s 5th anniversary saw over 130 murals painted; a remarkable 300% growth in just four years and a testament to the love and support from the community.
