The last time we checked in on 23-01 42nd Road was back in early August,1 when foundation work had just completed and the building was just beginning its initial ascent. Nearly three months later, things have moved along quickly, and the building has risen well over the construction fence that surrounds it.
According to the permits, which were approved in February, the building will rise to be 44 floors featuring 306,446 square feet of residential space and 30,650 square feet of commercial space.2 Delivery is expected in Fall, 2015 according to the rendering.3
Work appears to have come to a standstill again. Do not know the circumstances. The tower crane was extended, by three panels, on Sunday September 13th. Workmen turned up for work as usual the next day, Monday, but none of the gates were opened for access. The only person noted on site was the watchman. NYC Building appeared at least twice, observed, at the development. It is possible the building trades union members picketing the site, Monday to Friday, early morning to midday, may have been in touch with NYC Building, to inform of their concerns on site.
