The Beast Next Door Bar and Cafe located at 42-51 27th Street will open its doors on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Owner John Veenema told us that there will be live music to accompany the grand opening. Normal hours for the bar will be Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m., and then Monday from 11:00 am to 7:00 p.m. For more information, check out their snazzy new website thebeastnextdoorcafebar.com.

We would like to be the best bar in LIC. We envision a community bar where local residents have a place to go – to relax, have a drink and bite to eat – in a rustic elegant environment. Everyone is welcome but we especially hope locals will feel they can come in with friends and see others they know from the community. The cafe element of the business will offer pastries, sandwiches, salads and combination plates (high quality meats and cheeses, olives and dips). The aroma of strong coffee and warm breads will entice daytime customers. The skylight and large doors and windows in the front will provide for a well lit cafe/lounge feel.

Just left this place. Sat for maybe 10 minutes, there was only two other tables, three people behind the bar, two of them looking at a computer. Not sure what was going on, or why nobody came to our table, but it’s a weird place… not a friendly place. Pass.
