Demolition begins at Gas Trac at 27-01 Jackson Avenue

Things have been moving along at the old site of Gas Trac at 27-01 Jackson Avenue since the gas station closed down in January.1 Last month, construction crews installed a chain link fence on the site. When we walked by the site last week, we noticed construction vehicles inside beginning demolition on the property, as seen below.

Last year, the 9,200-square-foot lot at 27-01 Jackson Avenue sold for $11,600,000.2 In December, New York YIMBY spotted plans filed with the department of buildings calling for a mixed-used build with 15 stories and 88 units totaling 72,328 square feet and 7,090 square feet of commercial space.3

But then in February, renderings were released for 27-01 Jackson Avenue, and the site across the street, 26-32 Jackson Avenue, which differed greatly from the permits filed. Here’s what Queens Brownstoner had to say:4 “The buildings are called Jackson East, at 26-32 Jackson Avenue, and Jackson West, at 27-01 Jackson Avenue. Designed by Raymond Chan Architects, the towers will each rise 30 and 40 stories. […] No details on any construction timeline, or whether the units will go rental or condo.”
