Demolition has wrapped at the former site of LIC Auto Repair on 44-12 Purves Street a/k/a 27-19 44th Drive.1 In one of the more unique situations in construction, half of the LIC Auto Repair shop on the Purves Street side has been preserved, while the 44th Drive side of the building has been completely knocked down. According to permits with the DOB, the Purves side part of the building will remain as “ACCESSORY RESIDENTIAL PARKING FOR ADJACENT BUILDING.”2
Construction has not started, but figures to begin soon since construction permits were approved back in May. According to permits filed in October 2014 first spotted by New York YIMBY,3 a 27-story building with 165 units (122,405 square feet) and a commercial space of 2,124 square feet will take its place.4
