Things moving quickly at 23-01 42nd Road despite brief pause

We last checked in on 23-01 42nd Road back in July when construction crews had finished roughly 20 floors of the building and had begun to put in outside facade.1 The building has moved along at a quick clip since then, rising to be about 40 stories, as seen in the photo below.

But we noticed work stopped over the last week or so. When we looked in the DOB bin, we found that a work stop order was put in place after a “CONCRETE OPS HOSES FELL APPROX 8′ AND HIT WORKER IN HIP TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.”2 The work stop order was rescinded on Sept. 17, so progress should resume soon.

According to the permits, which were approved in February, the building will rise to be 44 floors featuring 306,446 square feet of residential space and 30,650 square feet of commercial space.3

  1. Do they have a permit to jackhammer on Saturdays? It starts at 8 am every day, which is fine during the week, but I thought it wasn’t allowed on Saturdays. I’ve filed complaints with the city and they just say there was no violation but don’t say how that is true.
