Danny Brown isn’t coming to Court Square, report says

Chef Danny Brown won’t be coming to Court Square, according to a report from the New York Business Journal issued last week.1 Brown had been eyeing the retail space at 26-20 Jackson Avenue, which was first reported by our friends over at LIC Talk in May.2 The restaurant was supposed to open in October,3 but there hasn’t been any permits filed with the Department of Buildings, and the space is still vacant with no construction going on.

The Business Journal report also said Brown’s flagship in Forest Hills was closing, but he was looking for another venue there. Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen was the first restaurant in Queens to receive a Michelin Star. Here is the relevant part of the article as it relates to Long Island City:

A plan to expand the restaurant from its location at 104-02 Metropolitan Ave. (71st Drive) into Long Island City that was announced a few months ago didn’t work out, but he hopes to reopen in another spot in Forest Hills.

  1. I hope Rockrose offers him one of their vacant retail spaces. It would be a very strong addition to the food scene in that area and for LIC as a whole.
