This October, Blue Shirt Productions will present its inaugural production, William Shakespeare’s Othello, at the Secret Theatre.
Blue Shirt Productions is a brand new theatre company comprised of young, up-and-coming theatre professionals. This production is a new take on Shakespeare’s classic tragedy in several ways; the period is shifted to present-day, and genders and nationalities have been flipped in order to hold up a magnifying glass to the psychological themes involved in the story.
Othello features Kyle Smith as Othello, Elsbeth Denman as Iago, Brianna DeArmon as Desdemona, Teri Madonna as Emilia, Pierre Jean Gonzalez as Cassio, Christian Spinella as Roderigo, Bennett Ferguson as Brabantio/Montano/Lodovico, Shykia Fields as Bianca, Cindy Chu as Duke/Ensemble, Brittany Hazeldine as Gratiano/Ensemble, and Lindsay Hope Simon as Clown/Ensemble. Cara Picone will direct, Andria Acunis will serve as Production Stage Manager, and Lindsay Hope Simon will provide fight choreography.
Performances will take place on October 22nd (7 pm), October 23rd (7 pm), October 24th (7 pm), and October 25th(3 pm and 7 pm). Tickets are $18 ($13 for students) and available at http://blue-shirt-othello.brownpapertickets.com
