Sage Roadhouse launches Open Mic Mondays

Sage General Store has transformed into the Sage Roadhouse after a foray into fancier fare with several pop-ups, including mrnilsson and a menu redo from some former Battersby employees wanting to take over the joint.

What we learned– the LIC crowd was missing that bacon brunch, the roast chicken, that blessedly simple and ever so tasty kale salad, and farm-to-table specials that speak to the soul.

The Sage Roadhouse has a full liquor license; drinking is much encouraged from $3 PBRs to one of the strongest cocktails ever concocted, created by bootlegger “Aunt Roberta” as a potent elixir to drown some very serious sorrows (think President Donald Trump). The “Aunt Roberta” is a secret blend of gin, vodka, absinthe, brandy and blackberry liquor.

The kitchen is cookin’ up down home, made-from-scratch dishes like the Johnny Cash chili (from the Carter-Cash family recipe) with jalapeño cornbread, kick-ass lamb shank lasagna, buffalo cauliflower for our vegan friends and many other tasty menu items.

To go with the back-to-our-roots vibe, we are launching Open Mic Mondays, with live acoustical music, some poetry, maybe even a juggler or three. Come on by — you might just discover the next Neil Young right here at the Roadhouse.

Opening night Monday, February 8.
