Announcing MiQ July Theme: Cross Generational

MiQ July Theme:

QUEENS is CROSS-GENERATIONAL

Each month we refresh the store, curating its inventory of goods around a new theme. Like with editions of a magazine, each month Made in Queens ushers new energy and new merchants into its mix of locally made products.

The July Theme is : QUEENS is CROSS-GENERATIONAL

Long-time residents live alongside the newcomers and next generation in the ever-changing neighborhoods of this borough. As the architecture, lifestyles, and social landscape of Queens undergoes a metamorphosis, the gap between the elderly and the young becomes increasingly pronounced. This selection of artwork seeks to create a dialogue and inspire connection between the boro-natives and new arrivals, in order to reshape community narratives as Queens continues to evolve. The July Theme is curated by Isabella Bustamante, the founder and director of Teen Art Salon, an organization that supports, develops, and promotes the creative pursuits of adolescents. She currently collaborates with young artists locally and nationwide.
