SculptureCenter

Due to popular demand, we have increased capacity for next week’s lecture by German author and critic Diedrich Diederichsen on Cosima von Bonin’s diverse practice as well as the prominence and role of maritime motifs in her work.

The program is presented on the occasion of von Bonin’s first solo museum exhibition in New York, Who’s Exploiting Who in the Deep Sea?, now open at SculptureCenter through January 2, 2017. Commonly evoked in her works, but rarely made explicit, the ocean is an organizing thematic for this show that focuses on a selection of her sculptures from 2000 onwards.

Diederichsen is Professor for Theory, Practice, and Communication of Contemporary Art at the Institute for Art History & Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Recent books include The Whole Earth: California and the Disappearance of the Outside by Sternberg Press (co-edited with Anselm Franke) and Utopia of Sound (co-edited with Constanze Ruhm) published by the Akademie der Bildenden Künste.

Tickets for the event are free but limited. Please reserve your seat by clicking here.
