Eleventh Street Arts is thrilled to announce its next exhibition: Wrap Me Up: Winter Small Works Show. This group show presents contemporary realist paintings, drawings and sculptures by over 40 different artists of the prestigious Water Street and Grand Central Ateliers. Opening reception Thursday, November 17, 6-9 PM
Wrap Me Up features work by accomplished and emerging artists from the Water Street and Grand Central Ateliers. All exhibited works measure under 12 inches in size. The result is a dazzling array of unique visions that invite viewers into a close, intimate setting.
A variety of landscape paintings, by Thomas Kegler, Edward Minoff, Emilie Lee, Mary Jane Ward, Lauren Sansaricq and many others, are presented, ranging from cozy to sublime. By re-framing the experience of landscape through a reduced scale and delicate observation, these works emphasize an intimate connection to nature.
Sam Hung’s, Anthony Mastromatteo’s, and John Darley’s still life paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia using vibrant and whimsical subjects made tangible through careful rendering. Others, such as Jacob Collins, Justin Wood and Rodrigo Mateo, focus on timeless subjects and create a contemporary space for the tradition of still life painting.
A collection of portraits by Patrick Byrnes, Colleen Barry, Greg Mortenson, Irvin Rodriguez and more complement the exhibition, capturing the complexity of emotion and likeness of the sitter, and displaying the sensitive connection between sitter, artist and viewer.
The public opening reception on November 17 will be accompanied by a live jazz trio, courtesy of Fifth Hammer Brewing. Gift wrapping will also be available to buyers. Additionally, Eleventh Street Arts will be open to the public for seasonal holiday shopping hours on these select Saturdays: November 19, 11-6 PM; December 3, 11-4 PM; and December 10, 11-4 PM.
