Crews recently finished installing “Sunbather,” a large pink sculpture at the corner of Jackson Avenue and 43rd Avenue in mid-November.1 Over the weekend, we were walking by when we saw construction crews shoveling dirt on the sculpture, as seen below. Later on, crews planted flowers, putting the finishing touches on the project.
The project, which came at a bill of more than $500,000, had generated controversy for a number of reasons, including the cost of the project, and that the sculpture wasn’t from a local artist.
