Hinds Combat Sports is set to open Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 10-25 48th Avenue.1 Recently, we sat down with one of the owners of the studio, Kit Yeung, to speak to him about his new business.
The Court Square Blog: Tell us about Hinds Combat Sports.
Hinds Combat Sports: Hinds Combat Sports is about spreading the disciplines of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in New York City especially LIC. Having the owners as lifetime martial artist and enthusiast, we know exactly how to provide the best experience for members. We understand these martial arts could be intimidating without the proper attention and detail that is needed to learn it.
TCSB: What is your philosophy behind the studio?
HCS: We believe in our product! Most gyms whether its Crossfit, Rock Climbing, NYSC want to lock you in for a year or 2 year contract. Here at Hinds we believe in our product so much we ask you to sign for a 3 month contract and give it your best for 3 months. In that time you’ll know whether these disciplines are right for you and if you want to further pursue it. If you feel like you don’t like it, you’re allowed to cancel penalty free and hassle free. Who wants disgruntled members at the gym?
TCSB: Why did you pick Long Island City?
HCS: We picked Long Island City because there really isn’t another place teaching these disciplines. We have encountered cardio kickboxing and other types of sports but Muay Thai/BJJ is lacking. We also love the vibe and growing neighborhood.
TCSB: What are your studio hours and contact information?
HCS: Find out more about us on our website. You can reach us at (347) 292-9066 and our email address is info[at]hindscombatsports.com. Our schedule is listed below, and we plan on adding 7 a.m. classes in the near future. Also, visit us on our Facebook page and also on Instagram.
