In January, we reported that signage had appeared for Murray’s Cheese, an artisanal cheese and specialty foods retailer and wholesaler based in Greenwich Village in New York City, at 28-30 Jackson Avenue.1
In September, a series of permits were approved by the Department of Buildings for construction of the interior space. One such permit filed by Murray’s Cheese is for “MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING SYSTEMS IN FIRST FLOOR RETAIL SPACE.”2
That will allow construction to begin soon. We stopped by recently and saw that construction hasn’t started, as seen in the photo below.
Here’s more about Murray’s Cheese from its website:3
Founded in 1940 by Murray Greenberg, Murray’s Cheese is proud to be a Greenwich Village tradition and part of the neighborhood’s rich food history, along with neighboring destinations like Faicco’s, Ottomanelli’s and Rocco’s. It’s a pretty safe bet to say that we’re cheese obsessed: our goal is to find the most delicious cheese and specialty grocery items from across the globe, teach you a bit about them, and then make sure you enjoy them.
